FOB, CIF and CFR for Packaging Net Orders
FOB, CFR and CIF allocate costs and responsibilities differently for sea transport. Under CFR and CIF the seller arranges main carriage, but risk normally transfers when goods are on board at origin; CIF also includes specified insurance. Agree the named port and Incoterms edition with your forwarder before ordering.

Understand risk and cost separately
For FOB, CFR and CIF sea shipments, risk normally transfers on board at the loading port. Paying for freight to destination does not mean the seller retains risk until arrival.
Name the port and rule edition
Specify the loading or destination port as applicable and agree the Incoterms edition. For containerized multimodal shipments, discuss FCA, CPT or CIP with a qualified forwarder rather than assuming sea-only terms fit.
Compare the full landed cost
Request freight, insurance where applicable, local charges, duties and import costs separately. Incoterms do not settle product quality, ownership transfer, payment security or every customs obligation.
